🐰 The Easter Bunny, Chocolate & Calories — How to enjoy without the Guilt

Easter is just around the corner — and like Christmas, birthdays, or family BBQs, it’s another time we all gather around good food and sweet treats.

And honestly? That’s totally okay.

I’ve had a few people reach out recently feeling a little anxious about the upcoming weekend. With the chocolate eggs, roast dinners, desserts, and leftovers on repeat — it can feel like you’re "undoing" your progress.

But here’s the thing:
You don’t gain weight from one meal, or even one day. What matters is your overall calorie intake over time.

The chocolate reality check

When it comes to Easter chocolate, I always say:
Enjoy it, just be mindful of the portions.

I know myself pretty well by now — if I open one of those shiny Lindt Bunnies, it’s a one-sitting event. 🙈

So instead of fighting it or feeling guilty, I choose options that fit my day better. Sometimes that means picking a smaller portion, or spreading the treats out over the week rather than having them all at once.

Per serve & per 100g breakdown

This is why I love looking at both per serve and per 100g breakdowns on packaging.
When you know the numbers, you can make a more conscious choice and balance the rest of your day around it.

💡 Here’s the big reminder:
A 500+ calorie bunny every single day? That’s where you start to see progress stall.
A bunny on Easter Sunday, savored and enjoyed? Completely normal.

What to Focus on Instead of Calories This Easter

When it comes to holidays like Easter, it’s easy to fall into the trap of “all or nothing” thinking:

“I’ve already had chocolate, so the day’s ruined.”
“I’ll just start over on Monday.”

But the truth is, one day — or one meal — isn’t going to undo your progress. What really matters is the mindset you bring to the table.

So rather than obsessing over numbers or feeling guilty, here are a few things I recommend focusing on this Easter:

Connection
Be present with your friends and family. Food is part of the experience, but it’s not the only part.

Enjoyment
If you love chocolate, allow yourself to enjoy it — fully. Slow down, savour each bite and notice how you feel. You might be surprised by how much less you actually want when you give yourself permission to have it.

Balance
You don’t have to eat everything at once. Spread the chocolate and rich meals out over a few days if you want to and balance them with your regular meals. No restriction, no extremes.

It’s about flexibility, not perfection

Easter, like any other celebration, isn’t about restricting yourself — it’s about enjoying the moment, the family time, and yes, the chocolate.

Your goals won’t be ruined by one day of festive food, but the mindset of guilt and over-correction afterward can do more harm than good.

So as you stand in the chocolate aisle this week, remember:

  • You can fit your favorite treats into your day.

  • You don’t have to eat it all at once.

  • One day won’t undo your progress.

At the end of the day, Easter is about much more than just what’s on your plate.
It’s what you do most of the time that shapes your progress, not what you do on one weekend.
